Kiwanis Club of Glen Cove hosted a general meeting, Thursday Feb 27. at the GC Public Library’s Community Room for new member and NOSH donation. The evening was geared to just have some fun and collect donations for NOSH. Our dinner, was a combination of donations, Pizza’s and salad were donated by Jeanine’s American Bristo (a member), the chicken, pasta salads and drinks were donated by members. As the meeting began, we welcome members, council people, business people, Mayor, GCHS Key Club VP, Benji, LV MS student Desmond and parents, we offered an invitation to eat and just relax with one another, games would begin afterwards. Our games, started with some tough competition between our players. . We want to first Thank our City’s Recreation department for allowing us to use their cornhole boards AND the Library for the access to the Community room. What we collected: foods such as rice, pasta, mac & cheese, canned vegetables, candy, breakfast cereals (individual servings) and monetary donations were made as well.
We delivered what we collected on Saturday: weighed in at 53 pounds. An extra Thank you to Fran & Bob, Phyllis, and the city (Spiro: a member) for helping make this a success. Yes, we have also provided a “Little Free Library” for children of all ages to access books that they can keep or share while visiting NOSH. Installation: Every year we Install our President,, VP, Secretary and Treasurer, for a 2 year term.
Installation date: November 14 2024 at Jeanine’s American Bristo @ 6:30. We installed our Board and our new members. Gerry Ford and Anwar Williams, we look forward to our year.
Coat Drive: Drop off: Trinity Lutheran Church 74 Forest Ave. Glen Cove. Saturday Nov. 16 between 12- 2 pm. Take your old coats and give them new life. 2024 Coats for donating:
November thru December, we collected new or gently used/cleaned coats for the folks who utilize of the Pantry located at Trinity Lutheran Church.
These coats were collected by our members, some were donated from the public but the bulk came from the efforts of our Key Club, by the direction of their new Advisor Kistrin Brosman. The Key Club members, took to their building and requested coats. On Tuesday, the day before, Casandra Canales, Juliana Ayers, Gladys Rivas, Magali Depaz, Abigal Sanchez and Kimberly Hernandez, not only dropped off what they had collected but also helped hang them and put them in size order. We collected over 87 coats and gave over 60 of them. We donated the remainder to the Church’s Thrift Shop.
Thank you to our members, Annie O’Neill, Phyllis O. Burnett, MaryEllen Cuomo and Ann Marie Gailius for your time and assistance for sitting around waiting for donations and thru the distribution.

After hearing the needs of NOSH, our club has agreed to help spread the word on donating a staple for every family. We will be advertise the newest way to donate! use of Amazon, reoccurring orders. A flier will be available soon with all the information.
Holiday Party: We celebrate our club, its members and other that inter club with us. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to wish us Happy Holidays!
Defensive Driving Courses: We schedule courses throughout the year. We post on Social Media.
Feeding the Homeless: This is one of our signature projects during the winter months. Club member prepare/bring assorted foods for the men to have. This project has been stopped, the shelter has closed and will not be reopening.
K-Kids of Landing Elementary School
Our K-Kids of Landing School are small but Mighty just like our Club! The kids sell pencils and other small items during lunch time and other times throughout the school year to generate money to be donated. This year their donation went to our Glen Cove Youth Bureau. Thank you kids~
Adopt a Family:
Our family this year, a family here in Glen Cove, mother, father and 2 kids. Our member purchase the gifts from a suggested list. If we feel the list wasn’t evenly divided we go shopping to fill the offset.
Community Night Lights: Oct- Nov: Offering families in need, to come have some food, get supplies and information on what services are available.
Last summer, we donated to our Glen Cove Garden Apartment Complex: A Little Free Library. We continue to make donations. Some books are being requested and others are just being enjoyed.
